Selection, maintenance, and inspection of miniature bearings

Date:2024-12-19

1. Selection of Micro Bearings

At present, various mechanical equipment, instruments and other markets have increasingly strict requirements for the performance and quality of micro bearings, and the working environment of bearings is also becoming more diverse. In order to select suitable micro bearings from numerous specifications and structures, it is necessary to analyze and study them from multiple perspectives. When choosing bearings, we generally need to first consider the difficulty of installing, arranging, and disassembling the bearings as a shaft system, the size of the bearings, the allowed space, and the marketability of the bearings, and preliminarily confirm the bearing structure. Secondly, while comparing the mechanical design lifespan of equipment using bearings and the durability limits of various micro bearings, the size of the bearings to be selected is determined. In addition to considering the fatigue life of bearings, we should also fully consider various factors such as grease life, wear, and noise caused by grease aging when selecting bearings. According to the different uses of bearings, corresponding requirements should be made for bearing clearance, accuracy, cage structure, and lubricating grease. If necessary, special designs can be made for bearings. There is no specific order or rule for selecting bearings, and the required bearing conditions, performance, and other related requirements should be considered based on the actual situation.

2. Micro bearing maintenance

In the process of using micro bearings, in order to ensure the proper use, performance, and service life of the bearings as much as possible, necessary maintenance and repair of the bearings are needed to ensure their stability and reliability, improve work efficiency, and reduce work costs. The maintenance of bearings needs to be carried out regularly, and the operating status of bearings should be monitored according to the prescribed standards, including the rotation, vibration, temperature, etc. of bearings. Lubricants should be replenished or replaced regularly, and dismantling and inspection should be carried out regularly.

3. Maintenance of miniature bearings

After removing the bearing, first record the appearance of the bearing to be inspected, confirm the residual amount of lubricant, take a sample of lubricant for inspection, and clean the bearing. Bearing cleaning is divided into coarse cleaning and fine cleaning. First, place a metal mesh bottom in the container to avoid direct contact between the bearing and the dirt inside the container. When performing rough cleaning, to prevent damage to the rolling surface of the bearing, be careful not to let the bearing rotate with dirt. Use a brush to remove the lubricating grease and adhesive on the bearing in the coarse cleaning oil, clean it thoroughly, and then clean it finely. Rotate the bearing in clean and clear oil while carefully cleaning it.

After cleaning the bearings, check the status of the raceway surface, rolling surface, and mating surface of the micro bearings, the increase in bearing clearance, the wear of the cage, and whether there is any damage that affects the dimensional accuracy to determine whether the bearings are working properly. For non separable micro bearings, the inner ring of the bearing can be kept horizontal first, and the outer ring can be rotated to observe whether the bearing runs smoothly. For separable bearings such as tapered roller bearings, the raceway surfaces of the rolling elements and outer rings can be inspected separately.
